Below is the statement from the Federation:
After receiving the decision of the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), the Royal Moroccan Football Federation expresses its welcome and appreciation of what the decision included, which reinforces respect for the laws and ensures the necessary stability for the smooth running of international competitions in the best way.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation emphasizes, since the outbreak of the events witnessed during the match between the national team and its Senegalese counterpart, which led to its suspension, its keenness to express its position and its continuous insistence on its demand regarding the strict application of the laws governing the competition. The aim of this step was not to challenge the sporting performance, but was limited to demanding respect for the laws and ensuring the integrity and fairness of the competition.
After the issuance of the disciplinary committee decision of CAF, which the Royal Moroccan Football Federation had appealed, CAF acknowledged that the applicable laws, which apply to everyone, were not respected.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has always been keen to adhere to the laws governing dispute resolution related to competitions, within the applicable legal framework. It has submitted its observations, participated in all the sessions it was invited to, and has always sought to ensure respect for its rights and the rules that guarantee the proper and fair conduct of the competitions.
Perhaps this decision will contribute to clarifying the systems and regulations applied in similar cases, and it enhances the credibility and organization of African football.
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation confirms that it will continue to demand the strict and fair application of the laws governing all the competitions it participates in, before continental and international bodies, and it looks forward with confidence to the upcoming sports competitions, notably the World Cup and the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations next summer.
Finally, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation expresses its appreciation to all the teams that participated in the Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco, which represented a significant moment in the journey of African football.
