Ivory Coast Secures AFCON 2025 Quarter-Final Berth After Dominant Victory Over Burkina Faso

Elephants Trump Stallions 3-0 in Marrakech Showdown

Ivory Coast has clinched a spot in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following a convincing 3-0 triumph over Burkina Faso. The decisive match, part of the AFCON 2025 Round of 16 held in Morocco, took place this evening at the Grand Stadium of Marrakech.

The “Elephants” entered the contest with a clear determination to secure early qualification, asserting their dominance throughout the first half. Their technical superiority and effective midfield distribution allowed them to repeatedly threaten Burkina Faso’s goal.

Ivory Coast capitalized on their advantage in the 20th minute when Amad Diallo opened the scoring. Yan Diomandé then doubled their lead in the 32nd minute, sending the Ivorians into halftime with a comfortable lead that reflected the significant disparity in performance.

In the second half, the Ivorian national team maintained control, employing a composed style of play and effectively shutting down Burkina Faso’s attempts. Bazoumana Touré delivered the final blow in the 87th minute, sealing their qualification for the AFCON quarter-finals with a clean three-goal victory.

With this win, Ivory Coast sets up a highly anticipated quarter-final clash against Egypt in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Morocco. The monumental encounter is scheduled for next Saturday at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir, kicking off at 8:00 PM local time.

This match is set against the backdrop of a highly competitive AFCON 2025 tournament, which has garnered widespread praise for its organization, infrastructure, and fan attendance. This success further solidifies Morocco’s position as a premier continental destination for major football events.
