Rabat – Africa Cup of Nations 2025

The Moroccan national team secured a dominant three-nil victory over Zambia at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat. This crucial win, in the third and final match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations group stage, officially seals Morocco’s qualification for the knockout rounds (Round of 16).

Morocco entered the match aiming to solidify their top position in the group, while Zambia sought a positive result to conclude their group stage campaign.

Morocco’s Early Dominance

The national team asserted control from the opening minutes. Ayoub El Kaabi, the Olympiacos striker, broke the deadlock in the 9th minute with a well-placed header that found the back of the net.

Morocco’s superiority continued throughout the first half. Brahim Díaz, the Real Madrid player, doubled the lead in the 27th minute, extending the national team’s advantage before halftime.

Sealing the Victory

In the second half, the Moroccan team maintained their command of the game. Ayoub El Kaabi scored his second goal and Morocco’s third in the 50th minute with a spectacular bicycle kick – a moment of exquisite skill that capped off a brilliant performance.

Return from Injury

The match also saw the African Ballon d’Or winner, the Paris Saint-Germain player, make a substitute appearance in the second half. This marked his first game since sustaining an injury against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.

Deserved Qualification

With this result, the Moroccan national team officially qualifies for the next round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, finishing top of Group A. Their organized campaign has ensured their passage to the knockout stages.
