Rabat – Africa Cup of Nations 2025

Achraf Hakimi, speaking ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, affirmed that the Moroccan national team players are acutely aware of the significant responsibility resting on their shoulders during this continental tournament. He emphasized that the collective goal within the squad is to win the title and bring joy to the Moroccan fans.

The Moroccan international, in media statements following the final training session, explained that all players recognize the high expectations surrounding the national team, especially with the tournament being hosted on Moroccan soil. This, he noted, necessitates strong performances in every single match.

Hakimi Stresses Collective Nature of the Goal

Achraf Hakimi pointed out that the ambition within the national team is not tied to individuals but rather is a collective objective shared by all members of the squad. He asserted that winning the Africa Cup of Nations demands discipline, teamwork, and intense focus on every detail of the matches.

The Paris Saint-Germain player added that the “Atlas Lions” are working daily in their camp to correct mistakes and improve their performance, considering the prevailing team spirit as one of their most significant strengths in this edition.

Zambia Clash a True Test

Achraf Hakimi also addressed the upcoming match against the Zambian national team, emphasizing that the encounter will be anything but easy due to the opponent’s level and the nature of the final group stage matches, which are often decided by small margins.

Hakimi clarified that all participating teams in the tournament deserve respect, noting that victory can only be achieved through maximum effort on the field, both physically and mentally.

The team captain stressed the importance of maintaining focus and not underestimating any opponent, considering the match against Zambia as an opportunity to affirm the Moroccan team’s competitive character and secure the top spot in the group.

Analyzing the Draw Against Mali

Regarding the recent draw against Mali, Hakimi considered the match to be strong and balanced, especially given that the Malian team comprises players active in major leagues and possessing considerable continental experience.

He affirmed that the draw does not diminish the Moroccan team’s value but rather is part of the tournament’s journey, highlighting the importance of learning lessons and utilizing them in upcoming matches.

He added that the technical staff is working on addressing certain details that emerged during the game, with the aim of increasing offensive effectiveness and maintaining defensive balance.

Morocco: A Great Footballing Nation

Achraf Hakimi concluded his statements by asserting that Morocco is a great footballing nation with a rich history and passionate supporters, noting that fan support remains a crucial element in the team’s journey throughout this tournament.

Hakimi called upon all components of the footballing community to rally around the national team to continue developing and achieving the desired goal of lifting the continental trophy.

The Moroccan national team continues its preparations for the match against Zambia with high focus and a clear desire to win and finish the group stage at the top of the standings, before entering the knockout stages with confidence and great ambition.
