The “Winners 2005” faction, supporting Wydad Athletic Club, expressed today their strong dissatisfaction and categorical rejection of the decision to prevent Wydad fans from traveling to the city of El Jadida to support their team in its match against Difaâ Hassani El Jadidi. The faction considered, in a statement published after the match which took place during the second round of the professional league last Saturday, that this procedure blatantly violates citizens’ right to freedom of movement.
The “Winners 2005” statement explained that faction members were intercepted on their way to El Jadida, preventing them from reaching El Abdi Stadium to support the Wydad team. The faction indicated that it was forced to turn back to ensure the safety of its members and to avoid any clashes or unfortunate incidents that might occur. In this context, the faction called on the responsible authorities to find radical solutions to guarantee the attendance of fans in stadiums, instead of resorting to banning policies that hinder freedom of movement, emphasizing that organizing fan travel is a real challenge, especially with Morocco approaching the hosting of major sports events.
On another note, the faction appreciated Wydad’s win and gaining the three points in the match against Difaâ Hassani El Jadidi, despite reservations about the overall performance of the team in the encounter. “Winners 2005” confirmed that this victory came at a critical time, especially amid talks of possible changes at the level of the technical management or club presidency, considering that October is not a transfer period for players. The faction also praised the fighting spirit of the players and their positive interaction with the fans’ anger, urging them to exert more effort to achieve better results in upcoming rounds.
Additionally, “Winners 2005” warned against what they described as “parties plotting harm against Wydad,” accusing them of trying to sow discord among the club’s components. The faction pointed out that these parties use fake accounts and campaigns aimed at tarnishing the image of the president, the coach, the players, and the faction itself. “Winners 2005” concluded their statement with an urgent call to Wydad fans to overcome any differences and rally around the club, its emblem, and colors, stressing that the unity of the club’s components is the true strength of Wydad.
