The Moroccan national team continued its victorious march in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, securing a deserved 2-0 win against the Lesotho team in the match held on Tuesday evening as part of the second round of Group One. This victory confirms the strong performance of the Atlas Lions and their determination to top the group.
The Moroccan team’s task was not easy against Lesotho, as the latter showed notable tactical and defensive discipline, forcing the Moroccan players to be patient. However, the skill of the Moroccan players settled the situation; just moments before the end of the first half, star Ibrahim Diaz opened the scoring in the 45th minute, giving his team the advantage and ending the goalless draw.
In the second half, the Lesotho team tried to get back into the game and equalize, but their attacks were not threatening enough. On the other hand, the Moroccan team strengthened its attacking options by introducing distinguished players like Abdel Samad El Alzouli and Sofiane Rahimi to secure a second goal ensuring all three points. This offensive tactic proved effective against Lesotho’s organized defense.
After a series of continuous attacking attempts, player Azeddine Ounahi succeeded in doubling the score for the Moroccan team in the 82nd minute, benefiting from a decisive pass by Sofiane Rahimi. This goal ended any hope for Lesotho to return to the match and confirmed the dominance of the Atlas Lions in this important encounter within the 2027 Africa Cup qualifiers journey.
With this win, the Moroccan national team raised its record to a full six points from two matches, continuing to top Group One without conceding any goals and having scored four goals. They had previously won by the same score against Gabon in the first round. Meanwhile, Lesotho remains without points after suffering their second defeat in the qualifiers, placing the Moroccan team in a strong and comfortable position for qualification.
