Africa Cup – Fez

Nigeria continued their formidable run in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, securing a spot in the quarter-finals after a dominant 4-0 victory over Mozambique. The match, held at the Grand Stadium of Fez, was part of the round of 16 fixtures.

The “Super Eagles” displayed an organized offensive approach, capitalizing on the high effectiveness of their frontline. In contrast, the Mozambique team struggled significantly to match their opponents’ physical and technical tempo.

Strong Start and Early Decisiveness

Nigeria started the match at a high pace, exerting continuous pressure on Mozambique’s defense from the opening minutes. This relentless effort led to the first goal in the 20th minute, scored by Ademola Lookman, following a precise pass from Akor Adams.

The Eagles gave their opponents no time to recover, as Victor Osimhen doubled the lead just five minutes later, converting another pass from Akor Adams. Nigeria concluded the first half with a comfortable two-goal advantage.

Absolute Dominance in the Second Half

Nigeria maintained their attacking momentum at the start of the second half, quickly extending their lead. Victor Osimhen scored his second goal of the match and his team’s third in the 47th minute, this time from a collective effort initiated by Ademola Lookman.

Nigerian players controlled the flow of the game, dominating possession and field positioning. Mozambique, meanwhile, failed to create any genuine scoring opportunities to threaten the Nigerian goal.

Adams Secures the Fourth

With a quarter of an hour remaining, Akor Adams capped off the goal fest by scoring the fourth goal in the 75th minute, assisted by Ademola Lookman. This strike underscored the Super Eagles’ complete superiority in the encounter.

Nigeria maintained their defensive composure until the final whistle, clinching a well-deserved victory that reflects their readiness to steadfastly continue their continental journey.

Quarter-Final Showdown

With this triumph, Nigeria sets up a quarter-final clash against the winner of the match between Algeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The quarter-final match is scheduled for next Saturday at the Grand Stadium of Marrakesh, kicking off at 5:00 PM, promising an exciting encounter.
