Achraf Hakimi to Face Trial in Sexual Assault Case
French Authorities Conclude Investigation, Refer Case to Court
French judicial authorities have decided to refer Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi to trial in a sexual assault case dating back to February 2023. This decision follows the conclusion of the investigative phase overseen by the public prosecutor’s office in the Nanterre region.
According to French media reports, the prosecution had formally requested in July last year that the case be brought before the criminal court, deeming that the investigative findings warranted judicial referral for a decision.
The competent judicial bodies in the Hauts-de-Seine department approved this request, directing the case towards judicial proceedings.
The details of the case trace back to February 8, 2023, when a young woman filed a complaint with the French police. She alleged that she visited the player’s home after prior communication via social media, before being subjected to sexual assault, according to her account.
The complainant, according to the same sources, maintained her statements and did not retract them, reconfirming her narrative during a direct confrontation with the investigating judge in December 2023. The case remains open before the judiciary for a decision in accordance with applicable legal procedures.
