The steering committee of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), headed by Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, held a meeting at the Federation’s headquarters on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa welcomed all members of the steering committee. On behalf of the football community, he extended the deepest congratulations and blessings to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist and empower him, and to the Moroccan people, on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
Subsequently, the agenda items for the meeting were discussed, as follows:
International Competitions:
Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa focused his speech on two main axes. The first concerns the international dimension of national football, both in the short and medium term. The second axis pertains to the National Professional Football League, where the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation affirmed that the current football season will remain exceptional (African Nations Championship for local players, Arab Cup, and Africa Cup of Nations).
On another note, the President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation emphasized that a comprehensive evaluation of the Africa Cup of Nations will be dedicated to a special meeting in the coming days, highlighting that the legal process regarding the events that accompanied the final match is still ongoing, in light of the unfair decisions issued by the Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football against the Moroccan national team. He stressed the continuation of following up on the case through established legal channels and procedures to protect the foundations and regulations of football.
Amendments to the Regulations of the National Professional Football League:
Mr. Abdeslam Belkchour, President of the National Professional Football League, presented a report containing a set of amendments for approval, which include:
The basic statute of the National Professional Football League (organization of general assemblies);
The law of the committee for monitoring and auditing membership conditions and eligibility in clubs;
Legal recommendations concerning the football practice of the National Professional Football League;
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Abdeslam Belkchour reiterated the difficulties faced by the programming committee. The steering committee approved the proposal of the National Professional Football League to complete the national championship matches on schedule.
